TKM Construction Group – The SunnyKids House
TKM Construction Group has played a vital role in bringing the SunnyKids House project to life by donating their concreting services to pour the foundations and slab of the new home.
Our volunteers are a HUGE part of SunnyKids and we value the wealth of knowledge and experience that they offer our team. Helen has been a volunteer with SunnyKids for a few months now and we couldn’t imagine life without her. Not only is Helen an incredible cook, delighting us all with her yummy treats every week, she’s also an absolute gem who powers through work with a positive can-do attitude.
We asked Helen what she enjoys most about volunteering with SunnyKids, her words were just beautiful.
After 40 years working with children in schools across Queensland, I wanted to find a way to continue to help children in our community to have a better future.
I heard about SunnyKids through one of the schools on the Sunshine Coast, so after a year of retirement I reached out and met with CEO Kathleen Hope to talk about how I might assist. The work SunnyKids is doing to help vulnerable families and children is quite outstanding, I had no idea how much support and how many programs it provides across the Sunshine Coast!
The SunnyKids team is made up of the most beautiful group of people who are kind and passionate in the way they help all those who reach out to them. The team has welcomed me so warmly and I find it a pleasure to come to “work” each week.
It’s very disturbing to know that many children live in fear as a result of violence in their homes and if the little bit of time I give each week can in some small way make a difference to the future of some children on the coast, then I will feel I have done something to give back to our community.
We’re extremely grateful for Helen’s commitment to SunnyKids and continue to be humbled by the generosity of our volunteers.
