SunnyKids Mayoral Ball Raises $100,000 for Local Families
The tenth SunnyKids Mayoral Ball raised $100,000 for families escaping domestic and family violence.
19 October 2026: The tenth SunnyKids Mayoral Ball has raised $100,000 to help local families escaping domestic and family violence rebuild their lives through its Transitional Housing Project.
More than 330 guests gathered at the Machjet International hangar at Sunshine Coast Airport on Saturday 17 October, with all funds raised supporting the project.
The Transitional Housing Project combines safe accommodation with intensive case management and wraparound support, giving families the time and stability they need to move towards independence.
SunnyKids CEO Kathleen Hope said the funds would support families through a critical period beyond the immediate crisis.
“When a family leaves domestic and family violence, getting to safety is the first priority. But a safe place to stay is only the beginning,” Ms Hope said.
“Families also need time, practical support and someone alongside them as they rebuild their lives. Our Transitional Housing Project brings those elements together, helping parents and children work towards a safer, more stable future.
“Saturday was a wonderful night, but its impact will be felt by local families long after the hangar doors close.”
The Ball brought together business leaders, philanthropists and community supporters for an evening of premium dining, aerial performances, auctions and raffles, set against the backdrop of Machjet’s luxury aircraft.
Sunshine Coast Mayor Rosanna Natoli said the result reflected the region’s enduring support for SunnyKids.
“For ten years, the Mayoral Ball has brought our community together to make a difference for local children and families,” Mayor Natoli said.
“The generosity in the room on Saturday night was extraordinary. Every contribution will help SunnyKids support families taking their next steps towards safety and independence.
“I’m proud to stand alongside SunnyKids and everyone who has helped make this event such a valued part of our community.”
Ms Hope thanked Machjet International for again hosting the Ball, alongside the sponsors, donors, guests and volunteers who made the evening possible.
She said the event also played an important role as a “friend-raiser”, introducing new supporters to SunnyKids.
“The funds raised are vital, and so are the relationships that begin in that room,” she said.
“Every year, people discover more about SunnyKids and find ways to contribute beyond the Ball, whether through their business, their time or their connections.
“That ongoing support strengthens the village around local children and families.”
