A Bus Full of Hope: SunnyKids Takes Support on the Road

SunnyKids Devcon House sold for $1.06 million at a Sunshine Coast property auction.

6 July 2026: A remarkable community effort has delivered a life-changing outcome for vulnerable Sunshine Coast families, with the SunnyKids Devcon House selling under the hammer for $1.06 million.

Built through the generosity of Devcon Property Group and more than 70 Sunshine Coast businesses, trades and suppliers who donated their time, expertise, materials and services, the sale will provide significant funding for SunnyKids’ Transitional Housing Project, helping women and children escaping domestic and family violence rebuild their lives.

The successful auction marked the culmination of months of generosity, collaboration and community support for SunnyKids.

Community Collaboration Delivers Life-Changing Support

SunnyKids CEO Kathleen Hope said the project showed what could be achieved when a community came together for a common purpose.

“This is so much more than the sale of a house. It represents hope, safety and a fresh start for women and children who have experienced domestic and family violence,” Ms Hope said.

“We are incredibly grateful to Devcon, Stockland and every business, tradesperson and supplier who generously contributed to this project. The support we have received has been extraordinary.

“Every dollar raised through the auction will help SunnyKids continue providing safe transitional accommodation and wraparound support for families when they need it most. This project will leave a lasting legacy for women and children across our region.”

Devcon Property Group Managing Director Michael Kain said the project was a testament to what could be achieved when local businesses worked together.

“From the beginning, this was about giving something meaningful back to our community,” Mr Kain said.

“We’re immensely proud of what has been achieved together and delighted the proceeds from the auction will help create brighter futures for local families.

“I’d also like to acknowledge the Devcon team, whose culture of stepping up, supporting others and making a positive difference in our community aligns so closely with the incredible work SunnyKids does every day for Sunshine Coast families.”

Reinforcing the group’s commitment to supporting local communities, Devcon Property Group Development & Small Projects Manager Sarah Kain added, “The response from the Sunshine Coast business community has been incredible. More than 70 businesses from across the construction industry generously donated products, labour and professional services, many of whom have worked alongside Devcon for years and were eager to support a cause that would make such a meaningful difference in our local community.”

Jodi Price, Principal of LJ Hooker Mooloolaba and Mountain Creek, said community support for the campaign had been evident throughout the auction campaign.

“It has been a privilege to play a part in a project that has brought so many local businesses together for such an important cause,” Price said.

“There was strong interest leading into the auction and we’re thrilled with the result. Knowing the proceeds will directly support local women and children escaping domestic and family violence makes this result even more rewarding.”

Building Brighter Futures for Local Families

Devcon House was made possible through the generosity of Sunshine Coast businesses that donated products, materials, labour and professional expertise to bring the project to life.

Led by Devcon, whose vision and leadership brought the project from concept to completion, these businesses demonstrated the very best of the Sunshine Coast community, building not just a home, but brighter futures for local families experiencing domestic and family violence.

Funds raised through the auction will directly support SunnyKids’ Transitional Housing Project, providing safe accommodation and wraparound support to help women and children rebuild their lives and move towards long-term independence.
